Vehicle diagnostics
A* Vehicle Systems carries out vehicle diagnostics to find out what is really going on with your car or van — reading fault codes, checking warning lights and reviewing live data before any repair or tuning work is suggested. Based in and around North London.
A clear diagnostic check is the sensible first step whenever a warning light appears or a vehicle is not behaving as it should.
A modern vehicle constantly monitors its own systems. When something falls outside expected limits, it stores a fault code and often lights a warning on the dashboard. A diagnostic scan reads those codes and, just as importantly, the live sensor data behind them, so we can tell the difference between the real cause and a symptom.
We use diagnostics to guide the next step honestly. Sometimes the fix is simple; sometimes it needs further investigation. Either way you get a plain-English explanation rather than guesswork, with advice based on your specific vehicle.
Who this is for
- Drivers with a warning light they want explained
- Anyone noticing rough running, poor starting or unusual behaviour
- Owners who want a health check before buying, selling or tuning a vehicle
- Customers who had a code "cleared" elsewhere but the problem returned
What we check first
- Your registration, make, model and engine so we can prepare
- Stored and pending fault codes across the relevant modules
- Live sensor data while the engine runs
- Warning lights and any recent symptoms you have noticed
- Whether a further inspection or road test is needed
How the enquiry works
- Send your registration, make/model and the symptoms or warning lights over WhatsApp or the booking form.
- We confirm what the diagnostic check involves and arrange a suitable time.
- After the scan we explain what we found and the recommended next steps, with vehicle-specific advice.
Good to know
Diagnostic and related services depend on your vehicle, its use, legality, inspection and suitability. We handle warning-light and emissions-system faults as diagnostics, investigation and repair guidance, and we do not advertise illegal road-use emissions deletes.
Frequently asked questions
Will a diagnostic scan tell you exactly what is wrong?
It points us to the system and the stored codes, which is usually enough to identify the cause or the next test. Some faults need further investigation, and we will always tell you if that is the case.
My warning light went off on its own — do I still need a check?
It is worth checking. Codes can remain stored even when the light clears, and an intermittent fault often returns. A scan shows what was logged.
Do you cover vans and performance cars?
Yes. We work on a wide range of cars and vans across North London and surrounding areas, with advice tailored to your specific vehicle.
Can you tune my car at the same time?
Diagnostics come first. If your vehicle is healthy and suitable, we can then discuss tuning options separately.
